Oh! That Barbie & Ken Doll Shape

What would your measurements be if you had that Barbie/Ken Doll shape at your height?

Figure out your Barbie or Ken Doll Shape

Barbie

Height = Your Height Ex: 64"
Bust = Your Height x .48 64 x .48 = 31"
Waist = Your Height x .25 64 x .25 = 16"
Hips = Your Height x .38 64 x .37 = 24"

If you use the hip measurements of a slender typical female, Barbie would have these measurements:

  Typical Female Barbie
Hips 33" 33"
Bust 33" 36"
Waist 25" 15"
Height 63" or 5'3" 88" or 7'4"

Ken

Height = Your Height Ex 69"
Chest = Your Height x .52 69 x .52 = 36"
Waist = Your Height x .36 69 x .36 = 25"
Hips = Your Height x .36 69 x .36 = 25"

If you use the waist measurements of a slender typical male, Ken would have these measurements:

  Typical Male Ken
Waist 30" 30"
Chest 39" 43"
Hips 33" 29"
Height 68" or 5'8" 82" or 6'10"

So - how many more inches do you need to grow to get that Barbie/Ken doll figure?

With these types of childhood models, it's no wonder that so many people are easily confused about what their ideal weight, shape and size should be. Height/weight charts also reflect cultural myths of body weight. However, there are other guidelines that more accurately reflect nutrition and fitness's influence on health and mortality. Read the attached handout for "Healthy Weight" guidelines for actual weight guidelines based on what it takes to achieve and maintain good health. You may be surprised and then - hopefully not.
